AZZURRA TP52
Azzurra is the sporting symbol of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS), the name that brought the Club and its burgee to international regatta courses and can be credited with introducingthe America’s Cup to the Italian public. Following the relaunch of Azzurra in the Louis Vuitton Trophy in 2009, in 2011 the YCCS team participated in the Audi MedCup circuit in the TP52 Classand finished in third place overall. Alberto Roemmers, YCCS Member and owner of Azzurra, commissioned a new boat for the coming season which will participate in the 52 Sailing Series, including a legon the waters of the Costa Smeralda during the Audi Sardinia Cup.
The winning team remains unchanged with skipper Guillermo Parada, tactician Francesco Bruni -helmsman of Azzurra since 2009 - and strategist Vasco Vascotto aboard. Audi Azzurra Sailing Team willonce again wear team uniforms provided by Official Supplier, Gaastra.
After the new Azzurra has been put to the test at the PalmaVela tune-up event, the 52 Super Series will officially commence in Barcelona with the Trofeo Conde de Godò from 23rd to 27th May. The Audi Sardinia Cup will then take place in Porto Cervo from 11th to 17th June, followed by the Royal Cup in Palma from 10th to 14th July and the final event, the Valencia Cup, from 18th to 22nd September.
